For your third post, describe which achievement(s) of the three masterplans for ICT in education are evident in the school/classes that you are attached to for your ESE. You may want to refer to your blog post about your ESE.
In Nan Chiau High School, all the ICT Masterplan 1 criteria are met. The physical infrastructure of ICT are in place for both teachers and students - there are LAN network points, projectors and visualisers in every classroom and Interactive White Boards in all lower secondary classrooms. There is a Wi-Fi network permeating almost the entire school, while each classroom has Ad-Hoc network points. In the next year, the school will upgrade its internet to fibre-optics for a much faster connection. Besides giving a laptop to every teacher, the school also has a resource centre where 6 desktop computers attached to printers and scanners are available for teachers to use.
The students have weekly training on softwares such as Photoshop and Videomaker, while teachers accept and utilise ICT as a pedagogical tool in classes. Most teachers have also acquired at least a basic level of competency in creating their own ICT content. I think the objectives of Masterplan 2 have all been reached as well.
As for Masterplan 3, self-directed learning and collaborative learning are really skills beyond just ICT. However, the focus on these areas would bring a welcome improvement - collaborative usage of Google Docs and the Asknlearn portal are signs that the school has already started on Masterplan 3, and I've no doubt that when (or if) I return, it would be well on its way to fulfilling all the criteria.
I really like the idea of the students having weekly training on software such as Photoshop and videomaker. It is through such lessons that they would get exposed to the available tools and allow them to be more creative in expressing themselves.
